In Ekalavya Model School, we are guided by the philosophy of Rishi Aurobindo that “ Nothing Can Be Taught; Everything Has To Be Learnt”. And, hence, our endeavour has been to help the children learn how to learn. Here, we do believe that each kid is special in his or her own unique way, irrespective of his or her socio-cultural background and each kid has some unique qualities which we are to nurture. Thus, we also need to hone our skills in handling the different needs of the kids and addressing the student diversity. This self-realisation has been the propelling force behind getting our teachers oriented from the workshops organised by the American Center, Kolkata, the British Council, ELTAI (English Language Teachers’ Association of India), JODOGYAN, New Delhi and the like.
We can boast of being the one of the pioneer institutions in effectively using the Bloom’s taxonomy and the Revised Bloom’s Taxonomy for daily instructional purposes.
The academic mentors of our schools are eminent academicians and teachers including Fulbright scholars from the Bowling Green State University, Ohio, USA.
Thus, we are a school with a difference, strictly following the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) & the National Education Policy (NEP-2020) as formulated by the NCERT in the true sense. Hence, unlike the most other private schools, we are guided by the principle of “Learning without Burden” and “सा विद्या या विमुक्तये” and do not practise the education business by selling books, uniforms and other materials from our school.
We have a well equipped library and a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) laboratory to encourage hands-on learning for our students.
We do take pride in organising co-curricular activities with the principle of participation of each and every student in the regular cultural events as well as in our annual cultural festival.
Located in the lush greenery at Dumurdaha, Hooghly off the Assam Link Road, the school has easy communication means with the nearest railway station (Dumurdaha) being just 1 km. away.
The school is proposed to be affiliated to the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education and the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education soon.
